If I recall REV127 was making his own.

Damn shame he left.

Oh well.

This will only be available to the crem dala crem of fighting forces.

Not the typical blackboot kicking down doors.

EBR ammo will still work just fine.

do they make bullet proof gas masks?

In one of his books, P. J. O'Rourke notes that the only problem with putting on a bullet-proof vest is that you quickly realize that it leaves a lot of your favorite body parts exposed.

------

If I was buying body armor, I think I'd go with something thinner I could wear concealed, to stop ordinary street thugs with snubby pistols.

If the government comes gunning for you, body armor isn't going to help you a whole lot. If they think you have ANY kind of decent body armor and they have time to plan the attack in advance, then they're going to bring ammo & weapons that will run right through anything out there.

The vest was not pierced, but the impact of any of the 7.62 rounds would've resulted in broken ribs or internal bleeding. The frag grenade was impressive, but with his innards turned into mashed potatoes he'd still have been just a good-looking corpse.

Combine a dragon skin vest with that balistic gel underneath and you would have quite a protective package.

Not available to civies though.

occasionally dragon skin makes it way onto ebay and similar sites. It runs 3-4 times that of the interceptor armor.

Why would you say that and back it up with facts.

My good friend wore his dragon skin everyday while we were in Iraq despite standing order that it was inferior armor and he would be reduced in rank and lose his life insurance if killed wearing it.

He was never hit and loved it or it's light weight and comfort which means a hell of alot.

All he had to do was order it through their website and say that he was in the military or in law enforcement. 3500 frn;s shipped.

No hassle and I could buy it right now for myself or for anyone that I wanted to give it to.

The AAR's from spec-ops units in the field that used it in Iraq and Afghanistan stated that many troops hit with pkm fire (that is 7.62x54r ) in their dragon kin thought they were shoved hard by a person and had minimal bruising if any. Some slight bodily harm but nothing as major as you would think.

Their is evidence of these reports bragged about on their website.

This is no super secret stuff. The military does not even recognize it as viable body armor which is f-ing bull shi*.

It is available for purchase to civilians. You can only get the Mill-Std-SOV 2000 which is basically Level III on steroids. Contact the company and ask where you can buy it. They sell it through a store called The Range or something like that.

Re: Dragon Skin Body Armor

We know it is available to LEO and active duty military fallen. 99.99% of this board is neither of those I am pretty sure.

Goldgun, I will try and contact them, but I find it hard to believe that they don't allow all of the retailers who carry the product to sell directly to the public but they themselves sell it directly through one outlet.

Gangsta99,

There are more Military and LEO here than you think. My point being that it is perfectly legal to own when you are not LEO or Military and yes you can buy it if you are a civilian. Just not directly from Pinnacle.

You may purchase this armor on the secondary market very easily. The only problem with that is you are going to be hard pressed to find anyone willing to give it up.

If you or anyone else wanted dragon skin you could easily get it.

If there are currently more than a handful of LEO and active military on these boards then they do a good job of never speaking up when they are being slammed constantly here. There are only a couple of us on these boards who believe not all cops and military are evil.

Also I never said this was illegal to own, I don't believe anyone here has said that. I just said 99.99% of us can not get our hands on these.

I am confused though on why you say it is easy to purchase armor through the secondary market, yet then say you will be hard pressed to find anyone selling theirs. So easy or hard? I know the answer to this one, I would love to know where all these people are selling their dragon skin armor at.

Also I find it hard to believe that the company behind dragon skin armor would sell this to civilians through one direct source, but won't allow any other retailers who sell these to sell to the public.
